Author Statement

“When I first started writing, I was driven by questions about what success truly meant. I never imagined this journey would lead to a book. Nouba’s Choice is my message to the youth, especially young Black men like myself, who often feel pressured to find validation through sports like basketball. While sports can be a path to success, there are countless other ways to find fulfillment—whether it’s art, music, business, medicine, law, or something entirely different.

Nouba himself wrestles with this uncertainty. Just when he thinks he’s left basketball behind, it pulls him back, forcing him to question whether the future he imagined for himself is truly his own choice. His journey reflects a truth many of us face: figuring out our path isn’t always straightforward. And that’s okay. Life doesn’t need to be figured out by a set timeline. The journey is just as important as the destination, and growth happens when we embrace the unknown. Keep your options open and trust that your true calling will reveal itself when the time is right.”
